God of War: Ghost of Sparta Announced for PSP
It seems like Kratos isn't quite being put to rest with the release of God of War 3. He'll be returning for a new adventure on PSP. But the best part is: The game will be a collaboration between Santa Monica Studio, developers of the console titles, and Ready at Dawn, the developer of Chains of Olympus. Chains of Olympus was great on its own, but I can only imagine what could come out of a collaboration between these two. And I like what I see.
While God of War: Chains of Olympus was a full-blown prequel, God of War: Ghost of Sparta is more of a God of War 1.5. The game will detail the gap between the first and second God of War console entries. According to the press release, "This new adventure picks up after God of WarŪ concludes, telling the story of Kratos' ascension to power as the God of War. In his quest to rid himself of the nightmares that haunt him, Kratos must embark on a journey that will reveal the origins of lost worlds, and finally answer long-awaited questions about his dark past." Alright, Sony, I'm interested.
"Excitement for the God of War franchise is at an all-time high and we're thrilled to continue that momentum with God of War: Ghost of Sparta," said Scott A. Steinberg, vice president, product marketing, SCEA. "This new adventure will showcase Kratos on PSP like never before in an experience that fans and newcomers can enjoy on the go, anytime, anywhere."
That's all well and good, and I'm very excited, but there's something off. Remember
spartansstandtall.com? Well, it's still up, and it's still showing a teaser image. The meter in the upper right corner still hasn't filled completely. Now, if that happens sometime today, then it could still be related to this. But, it's much less likely that it is a teaser site for the PSP game if they just went and announced it anyway. So what does the website have for us? Are we looking at DLC?
I digress. God of War: Ghost of Sparta is set to release before the end of the year. Expecting a holiday release.
Update: After checking
spartansstandtall.com again, it's been updated to the Ghost of Sparta site that it is meant to be.
