MAG Open Beta Coming Soon
On PlayStation.Blog yesterday, the next phase of the MAG beta was announced. As a surprise to all of us thirsty for some MAG action, Zipper Interactive and Sony have worked to bring us a fully international open beta! Starting January 4th at 5:00 am Pacific Time, and lasting until January 10 at 11:59 pm Pacific Time, this will allow for everyone to get a nice sample of this game's intense action before it releases on January 26th in the States and Asia, the 28th in Japan, and the 29th in Korea.
North American gamers can download the client for the beta starting today. The Asian market will have access to it on the 25th, and the European market can get it on launch day, January 4th. Details on Japanese availability are yet to be released.
Instructions, straight form PlayStation.Blog:
1. Log on to the PlayStation Store (tomorrow) and download the MAG Beta file like you would any other freely-available PSN video or demo (298 MB)
2. Launch the MAG Beta program from your XMB to download a special patch that will restart MAG once the update has been received (another 38 MB)
3. After the reboot, the beta will reconnect and download the actual game data so that you can play (1.8 GB – 2.3 GB depending on your region)
Well, I know what I'll be downloading today. Aside from the Santa outfit for my Sackboy, that is.
