At the Games Developers Conference this year, Sony finally released the name of their motion controller to the public. Set to launch this fall, many people considered the Arc to be the name from recent patent filings on Sonys behalf. The final name however, is the
PlayStation Move.
What is interesting to note is that shortly after the announcement a press release was issued, showing that the technology is now only using the standard PlayStation Eye camera. Originally when the Move was announced at last years E3, it used a newer camera, with far superior technology inside it. In what was no doubt an attempt to save money, they have now removed it from the final release.
Finally, the sub controller (seen above on the left) can be replaced with a standard controller if you do not wish to use it. Where you are going to grow the extra hand from, however, is anyones guess.
