Even though there has been a ton of new games announced for all of the systems, I'm finding myself not too enthused for them. So I feel that this is the perfect time for me to begin working through my massive backlog once I've beaten The World Ends With You. My lineup consists of this:
Gameboy Advance
Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls
DS
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Children of Mana
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker
Final Fantasy III
Playstation
Final Fantasy Chronicles
Final Fantasy Anthology
Vagrant Story
Playstation 2
Devil May Cry 3
Disgaea 2
Dragon Quest 8
Final Fantasy 12
Odin Sphere
Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Gamecube
Baten Kaitos
Battalion Wars
Wii
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
Trauma Center: New Blood
Virtual Console
Kid Icarus
LostWinds
Sin & Punishment
Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels
Phew, that's a lot and some of them I'm really ashamed of. I should be able to get through most of them though because I really only see 3 purchases in my future: Professor Layton, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Grand Theft Auto 4. I won't buy any other games until I have most of this backlog completed.
I have another slight problem though. I recently finished watching Game Trailers' Final Fantasy Retrospective (a good watch by the way) and now I really want to play through all the games. And since I still need to beat 2-6 and 12, I think I'm gonna do that. It should be a lot of fun to see how the Final Fantasies evolved over time.
So this begs the question: Should I work through the backlog and save the Final Fantasies for last? Or should I do them in another order? All I know right now is that I'm beating The World Ends With You first.
I'd say do neither. You know you are going to want to play a bunch more stuff coming out in August and you simply don't have enough time (in my opinion) to finish off that entire list. I'd say stick to the essentials. Play Final Fantasy 6, Disgaea 2, Odin Sphere, Fire Emblem, Vagrant Story, Children of Mana and if you have some time Castlevania. RE:UC is pretty pathetic and is a very displeasing title to me (extremely anti-canon and poor recycled areas from RE: Outbreak) and Trauma Center is really just more of the same.
