You may not know their name, but you do know their work. Platinum Games - founded in 2006 as Seeds - consists of some of the most talented people in the gaming industry, including ex-Clover CEO Atsushi Inaba (Viewtiful Joe, Okami) and Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil, Devil May Cry). Earlier at SEGA's press conference, Platinum Games revealed three of four of their current projects; MadWorld, Bayonetta, and Infinite Line.
The most talked about of the three is the Wii-exclusive MadWorld. MadWorld is a third person action game with an art style obviously influenced by Frank Miller's Sin City. The entire game is in stark black and white, except for the gore which is rendered in bright red. It's the most hilariously gruesome game I've ever seen, topping even No More Heroes. Be sure to check out the teaser trailer below to see just how awesomely gory it really is but be warned - it's not for the faint of heart.
Next up is Bayonetta for the PS3 and XBOX 360. Bayonetta is a third-person action adventure telling of the titular witch, who has 'guns on her hands and feet'. While Platinum has kept gameplay elements to themselves, it is directed by Hideki Kamiya of the Devil May Cry series, and there will likely be similarities between the two. Another kick-ass teaser below, but like MadWorld's it's rather violent, so be warned!
Third and final is Infinite Line on the DS. Infinite Line is a science fiction RPG focusing on combat between spaceships. Based off the novella 'Childhood's End' and boasting forty to fifty hours of gameplay, Infinite Line seems to be shaping up well. Of course, with all the talent behind these games, it would be a wonder if they didn't.
