Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Exploring, Puzzle-solving and Battles
Puzzles are incredibly imaginative and sometimes require a small knowledge of physics. A good example is this one room where you need to get a gear back on its cog. Use your grapple lasso to lift it up while standing right next to it will do nothing. Get up on higher ground, and the grapple lasso will lift that gear way up into the air and back on the cog. These puzzles give you a great sense of accomplishment when you figure them out and they make you marvel at the developer's sense of good game design.
Pacing is also a lot better than the previous two Prime games. Whereas in Prime 1 and 2, the games took a few hours to pick up, Prime 3 gets your adrenaline pumping in mere minutes with a Space Pirate raid.
The game will gradually ramp up the difficulty as you progress. It will be tough in the latter areas, but never impossible. Sometimes the game can get frustrating, but that only serves as a way to reward exploration. The more exploring the player does, the more expansions they will find and will be able to triumph over their foes as a result. Thankfully, the game includes a check point system where if you die, you'll start at your last check point.
In terms of boss battles, Prime 3 has some of the best in gaming history. Each boss is absolutely gigantic, sometimes to the point where we're talking about ten times Samus' size. The bosses may look intimidating, but they all have a method to their madness. Defeating them is just a matter of finding their weak point and pumping it with beam shots, but they all have different ways of uncovering this weak point. Maybe you'll have to rip their armor off, maybe you'll have to use your X-Ray Visor to shoot their internal organs, maybe you'll need to trip them by blowing up their feet. You can never tell what kind of things you'll have to do next, and each boss is a puzzle. It's a great feeling when you finally take these behemoths down.
Wii’s Best
Visually, Prime 3 is Wii's best and may even beat out the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy. The textures are crisp, the areas are gorgeous and expansive, and the use of bloom lighting is some of the best in any game to date. But what is most eye catching is Retro Studio's great artistic ability. The game uses vibrant colors to great effect and their capability to capture the atmosphere of the Metroid series is unparalleled. From walls with dinosaur scales on them, to neon flashing fortresses, Prime 3 is a beautiful game.
Music is also fantastic. Prime 3 has the best music in the Prime trilogy. From the opening theme that will send chills down your spine to the triumphal credits music, Prime 3 has excellent music. Old-school fans will find bliss in the remixed tunes and the originals are great as well.
Replay value wise, Prime 3 has lots. By completing different achievements in the game, players will earn tokens that they can spend on things like the Prime 3 soundtrack, a few dioramas, and lots of concept art. Players can also try their hand at getting 100% of the expansions – not an easy feat by any means.
Overall, Prime 3 is the best in the trilogy and is thus one of the greatest games ever made. With its rewarding exploration, it's difficult puzzles, and spot-on controls, Prime 3 is an instant classic and my personal game of the year.
