Little Town... (cntd)
Unlike many video games, Animal Crossing has no objectives that need to completed in order to progress through the game. Essentially everything is available from day one. Though there are tasks that one can complete, they aren’t mandatory. If you don’t feel like completing a task, who says you have to? It’s your life in Animal Crossing, so you do what you want, when you want.
Tom Nook will make a return in the game operating his store. It was also unveiled that like previous games, his store can be upgraded to accommodate more items. Some of the stuff that you can purchase from Tom Nook are furniture, medicine, equipment, trees and seeds. Also making a return is the point system, whereby in exchange for buying items at his store, Tom Nook will reward you with points. After acquiring a set number of points, players will be rewarded with a discount at his store.
Also making a return is the town hall, a place where players can donate their bells, the currency in the game, to a town in need. Players can also check on how well their town is doing. If there are too many weeds growing in the town, Pelly or Phyllis, the clerks at the building, will inform you. In addition to these services being available at the town hall, the building is almost home to the post office. At the post office, players can send letters to residents in their town to their cell phones and even to somebody’s inbox. To speed up the process of writing letters, Nintendo has included the option to let you use a keyboard. Quite a great addition to this new Animal Crossing. However, that isn’t all that can be done. Players can access their bank accounts where they can deposit and withdraw Bells.
As in previous Animal Crossing games, the roost in the museum makes a return. At the end of a recent trailer, the player was shown the roost drinking a cup of coffee. Since the roost was in the basement of the museum, one can assume that the museum and observatory will make a return.
Big World
By using the bus station near the town gate, players can take a bus to the city where they’ll be able to access a small urban area and do a variety of things. For starters, players can go to Harriet’s beauty store and get their hair done to match their personality. The option is even available to get your face turned into your Mii. Players can also purchase masks to wear. Like previous Animal Crossing games, Able Sisters, the fashion store, makes a return. At Able Sisters players can design their own patterns and turn them into umbrellas, shirts etc., as well as buy fashion items such as shirts and hats. You can even design your own pattern to use as the flag for your town. And what’s this? There seems to be a third Able sister. What a surprise!

Though the game looks exactly like its predecessors, City Folk still has the potential to sell over one million units before the end of the 2008 holiday season since its Nintendo's 'big' title. |
